What a fabulous election this has been. Have we ever been treated to so much information ever before? Wherever you turn there was a netaji smiling or waving at you. Driving around or on your computer screens, there definitely was someone popping up, telling you how he/she contributed in making your life so much so better or could do so!
Almost reminded you of one of those fairness commercials where they ensure they only pick a model with a fair complexion in the first place and paint him dark for the first part! Oh, couldn't also mention the latest Kellog's advertisement where of all people they've chosen Deepika Padukone for a two week challenge to lose weight before wedding season..lolz! "Himmat ho tho mujhse kara na, woh challenge..FOFL! (which btw means FALL ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING)
So, coming back to the elections, this time around, we know who's married, who's not - who's dating, who is not - who is remarrying, who dares not - Who owns what, though they couldn't find anyone who owned nothing! - who's got an LIC Policy, who's got the most expensive watches, cars, bungalows, food habits, twitter followers, who engages the most with - what each person spoke at each gathering - what they spoke in the dark when they thought no cameras were following - What cameras recorded and also what they said when they thought the cameras had ceased working - the depth of each candidate on each topic - his/her capacity to swear - and the also what they wear - their designers, their hair stylists, where they get their bags and kurtas stitched from and also the list of what they ate. The list i guess could just go on and on.....Well I forgot, then there also were the spoofs! The jokes on what really could only have been a joke that these gentlemen/ladies (who if not a neta would’ve been an actor/dramatist) spoke on LIVE Television News. That reverent space on earth that judges, nurtures and protects the basic tenets of humanity and human existence. Though one question that has always passed my mind sometimes is, which one is really the spoof?!
So, there we are..all set for a change. Most people i knew sat back late in offices glued onto EXIT POLLS yesterday. The same enthusiasm with pizzas and cola flowing as much as it would for a Chelsea – ManU game! It’ll be a crescendo the next few days as we head towards Thursday end and Friday. Markets shooting off it’s steam, everyone having an opinion or two on the elections.
Bacchha bachha jaanta hain ke Sarkaar kya hota hain, and who needs how many seats – Though Woman Empowerment seems to be the most favourite topic! So besides all the freebies doled out this year, twitter and a few other social media platforms surely seem to be smiling, especially with the so many more number of people the #IndianElections #Elections2014 have managed to draw-in. Though the onne thing that struck me by far is a picture of a pamphlet stuck on a shop window in Edison in New Jersey that promised free Methi Pakoda on May 16thbetween 12-5 pm local time. Last heard, the owner has applied for an advance loan from the WORLD BANK?!
